Fred Gumaer


Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, Fred pounds the skins and doubles on lead vocals. Fred migrated to Austin, Texas in the mid 80’s and played with the likes of Darden Smith, The Austin Lounge Lizards, Robert Earl Keen, Jimmy Day and others too numerous to mention. He has also recorded with the famous bluesman Eddie Kirkland. Since moving to St. Louis, Fred joined the St. Louis public radio station KDHX, and is currently the co-host of The Mid Day Jamboree heard on Saturdays. Fred is a virtual walking library of country music and of vintage music in general. You ask him about a particular song, and not only does he know it, he probably has it in his collection.

He is currently employed by Breckenridge Materials, Inc, a firm that leases heavy excavating equipment to local construction firms. The next time you need a 150 ton earth mover for your weekend lawn or garden project, Fred is the man to see...
